Pre- & post-surgery information
Before you have any procedure completed by a surgeon at Novant Health Vascular Specialists, you and your caregivers will have plenty of time to ask questions and understand how to prepare for your procedure, as well as what to expect afterwards.
Preparing for your procedure
Your surgeon will give you pre-operative instructions before your procedure, including what to eat or not eat, what medications are safe to take, and when and where your procedure will take place. If you have any questions about these instructions, please ask during your visit or call our office at 336-794-8624 so that we can help you get answers.
A note about procedure day: Before any procedure or surgery, you should expect to be asked for your name, birthdate, and the name of or reason for your procedure multiple times. This does not mean the people caring for you do not know why you are there! This is protocol to ensure you receive only the medications and procedures meant for you.
Your surgeon will give you post-operative instructions either during an office visit before your procedure or at the time of your procedure. You and your caregivers will have time to ask questions and ensure you understand any necessary follow-up, including medications, needed dressing changes, activity restrictions or follow-up visits. If you have any questions or concerns after your procedure, please do not hesitate to call our office at 336-794-8624.
